The Lincoln Presinential Library and Museum Observations & The War On Terror

The Abraham Lincoln Presinential Library and Museum Observations & The War On Terror . . .That's the subject of this Big B File.

On July 31st, a number of Parishioners, our pastor, and I went on a parish bus trip to the new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL.  We went through a number of exhibits including one on the presidency of Abraham Lincoln.  In the the exhibit (After viewing a Dress made for Mary Todd Lincoln), was a section of political cartoons about Abraham Lincoln's Presidency and his decision to fight the Civil War in an effort to reunite the country after the Southern States Had seceded from the Union over the issue of slavery.  there are a number of Similar comparisons that were made between Lincoln and The Civil War  and George W. Bush and the War on Terror (Portion in Iraq).  Let me address the Comparisons between the Criticism of the Lincoln and Bush (43) Presidencies first and then address the War comparisons.
When Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860, his detractors all said that his presidency wouldn't amount to much of anything or would not amount to anything at all. Does that sound familiar to you?  It should.  The reason why it should is that basically that same thing was said by George W. Bush's Detractors (of which we can count Illinois Senator Dick Durbin and the American Left among them) after Bush was elected President in the "Hanging Chad" election of 2000.
They kept saying the same thing after the the Terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York City and Washington, D.C. and up to this very day and during the Civil War about Abraham Lincoln. Just watch the Ancient Media, formally the Mainstream Media, and read Liberal Blogs, the Democratic Party websites and the Anti-War websites for yourselves for the current versions of the Detractors Rhetoric.
The same things were said about Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War.  they all said that the civil War was not winnable and that we should let the Confederacy be and withdraw the troops.  they also said that this was not a just war.  The same type of rhetoric is being used in relation to George W. Bush and the War on Terror the portion in Iraq   Neither War was popular and the Civil War did not end until the Confederacy Surrendered in 1865 and the War on Terror (including Iraq) will not end until Terrorist and the Groups & Nations that support them are defeated permanently.  I am not one who wants to have his country to go to war, but I realize that there are times where we as a Free Nation have NO CHOICE but to in order to protect our freedoms and must win.
Other than that, The Big B Files Highly recommends that you make a visit to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum spend the day there.  The Exhibits and the presentations were awesome and it is worth the trip . . .not to mention that it is one of the best use of taxpayer dollars spent by the State of Illinois and the U.S. Government in a long, long time.  You can get details about the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum by going to their website at alplm.org, including admission prices, museum and library hours and more.
